Our 2011 Grilled Cheese King and Queen Nominations
|
MEREDITH I am writing to nominate, my daughter, Meredith Waropay, to be the 2011 Queen of the Grilled Cheese, at the POP SHOP. She likes nothing fancy, just her plain grilled cheese, but with lots of gooey cheese, and of course, some fries. Meredith wishes that the POP SHOP would deliver to Shamong, her hometown, so she could eat one every night. Somehow, her mom's just aren't as good as the ones made here. Nothing would be cooler to her than to be the Queen for 2011. Having bragging rights alone would take the CHEESE! Take a look at the smile on her face.....GRILLED CHEESE rules her world.

BRITTANY I am nominating my daughter for the grilled cheese queen. She is humble yet poised and has many senses of humor. And best of all we try a new grilled cheese everytime we visit and split a salad. She loves her grilled cheeses. We love your place!

| MR. CURRY and MR. HOLM
I would love to nominate my two science teachers, Mr. Holm and Mr. Curry to be the grilled cheese kings. They are CRAZY for grilled cheese and if Carl Sagan was alive I am positive I would be nominating him as well. When we have grilled cheese for lunch at school they make a made dash to the lunch room before everyone else so they can buy 4 grilled cheese sandwiches each. When the bell rings its like the grilled cheese derby, off they go with their change jar in hand. They even stand in the hallway with a sign telling everyone its grilled cheese day. When I heard about the contest I knew I had to tell them, Mr. Holm kept saying we can do this, he then told Mr. Curry and as you can see by the attached photo they have also included Carl Sagan.
When we were at your shop a few weeks ago I picked up two of your grilled cheese calendars and gave them to Mr. Holm, when he found out that it was grilled cheese month he wanted to hold a protest downstairs because our school cut back on grilled cheese lunches. They are fantastic and crazy science teachers who make everyday fun and interesting. I know they would be the best grilled cheese kings the pop shop ever had.
My family and I love your shop. We all love your food, it’s the best!!!!!

MARC He runs, bikes, and swims. He saves puppies and kittens. He has a passion for brie.
When Marc Seitz gets up in the morning, he sips tea from a Pop Shop mug and laces up his shoes to run 15 miles before going into his job as an emergency veterinarian. A man like this needs fuel for busy days. Marc’s fuel of choice? Pop Shop’s grilled cheese sandwiches. Since Marc moved to Collingswood, the Pop Shop has become his restaurant of choice for special occasions and weekly dinners out. He even celebrated his 30th birthday with a Pop Shop grilled cheese sandwich!
His love for grilled cheese is no casual matter, however; Marc is the self-proclaimed founder and president of the Grilled Guild, a not-yet-in-existence (and therefore very exclusive) club for Pop Shop aficionados who seek to try every one of the Pop Shop’s grilled cheese varieties.
To top it all off, Marc is one of the gentlest and most loving souls you’ll ever meet. He’s a devoted husband and “puppy daddy” to Sedona (a four-year-old chocolate Labrador Retriever), he’s completely incapable of turning down a cute kid selling something for charity, and he’s actually been known to help elderly women cross the street. The best part of all is that he’s so humble, he would never tell you any of this. :)
With a heart of gold and an appetite for cheese, Marc Seitz is ready to be your 2011 Grilled Cheese King!

CHARLIE I would like to nominate my son, Charlie Temple for King of Grilled Cheese. Charlie has a cameo appearance in the Throwdown with Bobby Flay show, his face fills the screen as he attempts to shove an entire sandwich in his mouth. In fact, during the taping, Charlie is rumored to have eaten 8 sandwiches (well, quarters) to be sure he knew which sandwich he liked best (Pop Shop's of course, but one can't rush into these things).
Charlie does not eat many sweets or snack foods but he lives for cheese - every kind. "The stinkier the better" he says. For every special occasion or reward for school work or grades, his first and ONLY choice is the Pop Shop and the only item he ever orders is a grilled cheese sandwich.
We are reading The Little Prince right now and Charlie is thinking about what it means to be a fair and gentle ruler. I'm pretty sure it involves sandwiches for the masses.

WILL and AMELIA I would like to nominate my Grandson Will and my Granddaughter Amelia for grilled cheese Kind and Queen. They love grilled cheese and we frequently pretend to be ordering and serving one another, pretending we are at The Pop Shop or Webers drive in.
|
BRYAN I want to nominate my "little" cousin, Bryan Dewan. He's 16 and begs those of us who drive to take him to the Pop shop practically daily. We live about an hour away in PA and we LOVE your shop!! Every time we come there, Bryan will peruse the menu as if he's never seen it before and then almost always go for the Linden. It's Philly with a Pop Shop twist! Not only that but I think he's tried practically everything on your dessert menu and often talks the rest of the family into splitting giant sundae's with him. He would make a great King!
