Awards!

This has been such an amazing almost three years for The Pop Shop. Not only have we been embraced by the town of Collingswood, it seems that all of South Jersey has visited us. And we've even won some awards! Being in business is award enough for us but it's nice to have some "official" kuddos as well!

The Pop Shop's menu has been named one of the BEST KIDS MENUS IN AMERICA!

The Pop Shop was named one of the “Best Kids Menu In America!" 2006 by Restaurant Hospitality magazine. The Pop Shop received the merit award in the Family Division for its creative approach to family dining which includes healthy food selections, value, ongoing family events, and entertainment for kids. Only two other restaurants were noted in that category; a total of 12 restaurants nationwide were recognized overall. “The Best Kids Menu In America” awards were created more than ten years ago to recognize food service operators that have brought healthy and innovative ideas to the food service industry.
The judges loved the Pop Shop’s age appropriate options and great value. The Pop Shop offers three childrens menus designed, sized, and priced according to age, appetites, and preferences. Because of the choice of three portion sizes, parents can save money by purchasing just the right amount of food for their child. As parents, the owners of The Pop Shop know it’s frustrating to buy a $5 meal for the 4 year-old who eats three bites and then claims to be “full.” (They have one of those.) The judges also were impressed with the menu options for kids. While The Pop Shop Squirts menus have the requisite chicken fingers and hot dogs they offer lots more that are both fun — the classic fluffernutter, a breakfast sundae with berries, yogurt, and Cheerios that looks like dessert; and our 100%-from-scratch pancakes filled with things like chocolate chips, Oreos, MnM’s, and peanut butter and jelly — and healthy — Green Eggs and Jam (two eggs scrambled with shredded zucchini and cheese served with toast and jelly. They’ll never know it’s good for them!); Grammom’s Granny Smith Apple Toaster; and vegetarian corn doggies on a stick with homemade for dipping. The Pop Shop has ongoing children’s events such as the Saturday Morning Pajama Party. Each child dressed in PJ’s receives a free breakfast when accompanied by a paying adult. Once a month families enjoy Kids Karaoke Night.

Parents can sign their children up for the Kids Cone Club. Club members receive an official soda jerk hat and honorary Soda Jerk status; a gift certificate for a free cone; birthday card and gift certificate for a free kid’s meal; and special invitations to kid-friendly events such as our special New Year’s Eve kazoo parade.

The Pop Shop, which offers American diner classics — think comfort food for foodies and their families — is committed to using top-notch ingredients in exciting and delicious ways so that kids get food they really like and parents do not have to sacrifice quality or selection. The servers are specially trained to meet the needs of younger guests — staff is happy to cut the crusts of bread, sell just half a sandwich, provide organic baby food, and make real chocolate milk to order. Kids are not an afterthought at The Pop Shop — they are good customers and future foodies.

At The Pop Shop kids can sit at the real 1950’s soda fountain, spin on the stools and watch the soda jerks make magical ice cream concoctions. Each child receives a soda jerk hat (just like the ones our soda jerks wear) and crayons and stickers to help decorate them. A lending library of picture and chapter books is also available.

More awards!

Besides being named Best Kids Menu in AMERICA, The Pop Shop was awarded praise by local critics and customers alike this summer. Here are some of the highlights...

Best of Philly from Philadelphia magazine!! We won for "Best Breakfast, Kids." The editors love our breakfast menu and our Saturday Morning Pajama Party for kids. They wrote..."The blueberry-stuffed French toast sandwich is worth a new pair of Garanimals."

The editors of South Jersey Magazine named us "Best of the Best for Unique Places to Eat." (We agree. Know any other local restaurants serving 32 kinds of grilled cheese?)

SJ Magazine readers awarded us with "Best Kid-Friendly Restaurant" and "Best Milkshake." (Note to self: bring family to The Pop Shop for milkshakes. We have over 30 varieties and use only Bassetts ice cream.)

Thanks to all our customers for supporting us and spreading the word about The Pop Shop. We owe all our success and accolades to you!

"We love the Pop Shop. We've been there for every meal and enjoy each one.
For your grilled cheese menu, I have one for you to consider to add to your list.     My mother-in- law introduced me to a grilled cheese sandwich. It's american cheese with sliced green olives in it.  I simply love it.  If you choose to add it to your menu, "Harvard" would be my suggestion since it was there favorite home.  My inlaws are Collingswood natives. They lived in 3 different homes in Collingswood, their favorite was on Harvard Ave. They don't live in it anymore but they have many fond memories there. Thank You,Patti Reuter"

I grew up in Collingswood and am thrilled to see the town doing so well. Often when we go home to visit family we visit the pop shop. We went this past sunday and had an amazing breakfast...it makes me want to open one up here in maryland!

It's Monday afternoon. I came to the Pop Shop this past Saturday with a friend. This was my first time. I am still thinking about the Blueberry French toast I had. It was by far the BEST french toast I've had outside of my own kitchen. Absolutely perfect. I wish I had a Pop Shop in Sicklerville. I would skip yogurt or cereal on Saturday mornings and hang out there. Have you ever considered franchising? You've done a wonderful job with this restaurant and I hope it's around for a long time!

- Stephanie of Sicklerville

I've been to the Pop Shop many times and tonight was one of my best experiences.  Our waitress Robin was friendly and attentive.  She even went as far as to check my ID since my credit card was not signed, a rarity these days.  She is an excellent employee and one I hope is highly valued.
