Meet the 2008 - 2009 Jerks of the Month! January 2009 Jerk of the Month Jacob Shapiro Bala Cynwood, PA Jacob Shapiro from Bala Middle School in the green striped shirt was the Jerk for his 13th b-day. His cousin Ari Sussman in the black shirt was the Jerk Assistant for graduating Shechter Middle School in Elkins Park, Pa.   January 2008 Jerk of the Month Christopher Szychulski Milford, PA  I just wanted to thank both you and the entire staff of the Pop Shop for a really great evening on Sunday night.  I talked to a couple people after the nights festivities and everyone had a great time (even if it was laughing at me for the most part).  Serving family and friends, singing soda jerk tunes, having a great meal…it was the best.  And nothing beats when I got to serve my nephew his chocolate ice cream with rainbow jimmies.  The smile on his face was awesome.  I had so much fun and the night flew by so fast.  Everyone that was working with me was great and patiently willing to show me the ropes of being an official soda jerk even if only for one night.  One thing that I noticed from when I walked in until I left was that this was no ordinary restaurant because everyone had such a great attitude and made the Pop Shop a really fun and family friendly place to visit.  The food was great as well. I asked around and everyone had good things to say about their meals. I’m already telling people about it up here. Please be sure to thank everyone who worked with me on Sunday. They were the best and I couldn’t have asked for a better group to work with.  In fact, you should give them all raises because they are just that good.  (And no…they didn’t prompt me to write that last line after you left for the night.  Actually, they really didn’t but they are some of the best folks around and made it a great experience).  I will keep my hat for a long time to come. Hey, if you ever need someone to fill in one night for jerk duties, feel free to give me a call.  Just supply me with an apron and I’m there.  I’m always up for a great time with you guys.  And you better believe that I’ll be visiting you guys on one of our next visits to SJ from up north.  Thanks and I look forward to stopping in again real soon. "I couldn’t think of any but we did change the lyrics to the old Sammy Davis, Jr. song “Candy Man” to fit the occasion.  It goes something like this,   “Who can serve you soda, and a milkshake” Who can serve ice cream on the side of pound cake. The Soda Jerk can, Oh the Soda Jerk can. The Soda Jerk can ‘cause he mixes it with love and makes the Pop Shop great.”  There’s no copywriting on that so you have my okay to use it as you see fit.  However, you may want to get the okay from Sammy’s estate first."
